Iran's first int'l cartoon museum to be launched in Tabriz

"Simultaneously with the opening of the International "Kings" cartoon exhibition on the 1st of March and the introduction of the participating cartoonists, this museum which is one of the greatest cartoon museums in Asia and the Middle East will be opened," informed Tabriz Cartoon Association director, Rahim Baghal Asghari.

The future museum building is the former Tabriz National Library, located in the Golestan Garden with a history of 50 years.

"Two galleries are scheduled in the museum. The first one is permanent and dedicated to the display of the main, most famous and selected cartoon works of eminent and veteran cartoonists. The second gallery is temporary and dedicated to periodical and weekly exhibition," said Asghari.

He also notified that the opening ceremony of the museum would take place in the presence of eminent world cartoonists from Germany, Turkey and many others.

The Tabriz Cartoon Association has more than 500 permanent members from overall Iran and is the only active and registered association in Iran to represent the international Federation of Cartoonists Organizations (FECO). ISNA
