Sumgait Synthesis Caoutchouc Plant blast kills two, injures four

Emergencies Ministry Public Affairs Office told APA that Gafur Mikayil Aliyev, aged 59, Antiga Mahammadali Gasimova, 41, Fikrat Hasan Hasanov, 50, and Salam Ahmad Ahmadov, 55, were taken to the emergency room of Sumgait City Hospital.

Some 15 fire engines, 235 Civil Defense troops, 12 rescue vehicles were involved in fire-fighting and rescue works.

Rescuers found two workers- Sukufe Mursal Mustafayev, 41, and Samire Kheybar Shikhaliyev, 53, dead.

The plant is located far from residential zone and the probability of the environmental damage is low.
