21 December 2006 [22:40] - TODAY.AZ
"Azerbaijan did not have candidate to TURKSOY Director General," said Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev.

"Azerbaijan has ruled TURKSOY for 14 years. It would be immodesty to nominate a candidate again," he told the APA exclusively.

The minister said that as Polad Bulbuloglu did not take part in the discussion of elections to the post of director general, the election did not take place.

"We agreed to hold see-off ceremony with participation of Polad Bulbuloglu. The opening of the new building of TURKSOY and dome other issues are on the focus of the meeting. Turkey Culture and Tourism Minister Atilla Koch was commissioned to this post temporarily-for six moths. The election of secretary general will be discussed in the next meeting," he said.

Garayev stated that the ministers will not be commissioned to the post of director general of the organization. The minister also mentioned that the meeting decided to establish International Center for Cultural Heritage of Turk Nations in Baku.
