Azad Rahimov elected National Olympic Committee's VP

The meeting of National Olympic Committee Executive committee was held on Wednesday.

Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov was elected vice-president of NOC and Youth and Sports deputy minister Ismayil Ismayilov was chosen a member of the Executive committee, the ministry information service deputy Rafig Abbasov told APA.

The post of NOC 1st vice-president was abolished. The leadership shared the authorities and determined the ways to improve activities in sport field for 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games.

"The problems of sports that have chance to win license next year were discussed," he said.

Azad Rahimov made a report concerning the special anti-doping and rehabilitation centre, provision of sportsmen with nourishment and medals to be created for country championship.

It was also pointed out that Azerbaijani sportsmen have won 281 medals this year. It is a record during the history of independence.
