Allahshukur Pashazadeh appealed journalists on hunger strike

21 November 2006 [19:56] - TODAY.AZ
Head of the Caucasian Muslims Office Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh appealed to the Azadliq editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid and the journalists joining the strike to support him.

He said that he is worried about the situation. "This newspaper has a glorious history. Despite that sometimes they publish articles I do not agree I can say that the paper has a special place in the history of our state. During Bloody January in 1990 my harsh letter to the UN Secretary General was first published in this newspaper. I will not forget it," he said.

Allahshukur Pashazadeh called on the hunger strikers to stop the strike saying that this is some kind of suicide and God is against it. "This is a sin. A man can only sacrifice himself for his motherland and this is called martyrdom. I understand that each person may have principles and political conviction and fight for it. But I believe that you will understand me and stop the strike," he said, APA reports.
