Probe into explosion of helicopter "MI-8" stopped

Investigation on criminal case concerning explosion of military helicopter "MI-8" by Armenians in Garakend has been stopped, Republic Prosecutor's Press Service told.

The criminal case was combined in the unique investigation group investigating the crimes committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis. As that area is under Armenians occupation it was impossible to identify the criminals.

Therefore the investigation of the criminal case has been stopped. Republic Prosecutor's Office reported that the flight recorder of helicopter was sent to Moscow.

As a result of examination it was known that photographic film of the flight recorder burnt during the explosion.

On November20, 1991 Armenian terrorists exploded the military helicopter "MI-8" in Khojavend region near Garakend village, APA reports.

As a result of it 22 peacekeepers visiting Khankendi – parliamentarian state secretary Tofig Ismayilov, Deputy Prime Minister Zulfu Hajiyev, Mahammad Asadov, Prosecutor General Ismet Gayibov, parliamentarians Vagif Jafarov and Veli Mammadov, President's Office department chief Osman Mirzayev, Deputy Minister of Melioration and water industry Gurban Namazaliyev, Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region I.Plavski, NSM department chief on NGAR S. Vanov, NGAR Interior Affairs department chief V.Kovalyov, NGAR Emergencies district commandant N. Jinkin, State Secretary assistant R. Mammadov, Azerbaijan Republic State TV and Radio Company Ali Mustafayev, Arif Huseynzadeh and Fakhraddin Shahbazov, Russian observers major-general M. Lukashov and lieutenant-colonel V. Kocharov, Kazakhstan Deputy Interior Minister S.Serikov and 3 crew members died.
