Substantial changes in 2007-2008 Students' Admission rules

State Students Admission Commission (SSAC) made changes in entrance examination models which will be held in 2007-2008.

The examinations will be held for four fields, Maleyka Abbaszadeh, SSAC chairwoman said in the press conference. Generalized subject block and Field V were abolished. Pedagogy and Psychology were transferred to Field III, Sociology to Field II.

Psychology will be transferred to Field IV in 2008. According to new rules the specialty of graphic designer in Field I removed from the ability examinations list. Abbaszadeh said that the entrants will have examinations on five subject blocks in next year.

The number of questions remains as 120; 25 questions on main subjects, 20 questions on the newly-added subject. Foreign language will be added to Field I (English, French, German, and Russian for Azerbaijani section), History of Azerbaijan to Field II, Mathematics to Field IV. Fields I, II and III will have examinations from Mother Tongue. Geography will be removed and Mathematics added in Field III and the entrants will have Mother tongue and Literature separately.

The substantial change was made in Russian Section. The Russian section students will have an extra exam on Azerbaijani Language. They will be presented 20 questions in the exams. The results will be marked with satisfactory and not-satisfactory marks. The examinations are expected to be held in March and June. Those who will not get satisfactory marks in March will be given the chance to have the repeated exams in June.

The chief of SSAC also said that it got clear from the investigations that 34% of Russian section entrants succeeded in Azerbaijani Language exams. The simplicity of the questions included in generalized subject block will differ from main subject questions.

No limit will be defined to newly-added subjects in the entrance examinations in 2007. Abbaszadeh added that all changes in the examination rules will be published on booklet in November-October, APA reports.
