Abbas Abbasov's son elected VP of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation

Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF) held a meeting in Hyatt Regency Hotel.

The Federation first vice-president Javanshir Gurbanov said they will discuss four main issues in the meeting. Aydin Abbasov, the son of Abbas Abbasov, The Federation president was appointed vice-president of the AWF. Parliamentarians Ekrem Abdullayev, Chingiz Asadullayev and Rafael Bayramov were appointed the members of the Federation Executive Committee. Then the head coach on classic wrestling Elchin Jafarov talked about the problems of the Federation.

"Azerbaijan national team will compete at its full potential after solving the problems of Farid Mansurov and Husameddin Rejebli," Jafarov said.

Another coach Vahid Mamadov spoke about the victories of Azerbaijani sportsmen in 2006 World Championship. "Our aim is to gain five licenses to Beijing Olympic Games in the world championship in Baku," he said.

Then Gehreman Mehraliyev and National Olympic Committee vice-president Khazar Isayev stated that wrestling is in bad condition in Azerbaijan. They said sportsmen do not respect referees and coaches.

The plenary session of the Federation also assessed the results of Azerbaijani wrestlers in the world championship and discussed the preparation for the world championship in Baku in 2007, APA reports.
