IAU students resume hunger strike

09 October 2006 [10:33] - TODAY.AZ
The sophomores of the privately-owned Azerbaijan Independent University resumed hunger strike in the medical station of the university.

UIA was closed by the Ministry of Education this year due to its illegal activities.

Vugar Suleymanov, IAU Students' Rights Defense Committee chief told the APA that university senior officials attempted to make them leave the university building but failed.

"Students' patience has run out. University leadership hide and Education Ministry close eyes to the irregularity. They accuse us while they can’t bring university founder Abbas Mustafayev to investigation. If the students are made to leave the building by force, we will seek asylum in international organizations."
