25 September 2006 [22:07] - TODAY.AZ
Iran's 55kg Greco-Roman wrestler Hamid Surian retained the world gold by defeating Azerbaijan's Rovshan Bayramov 6-0 here Monday.

Surian had lost to the Azeri wrestler in Baku Grand Prix.

In the 60kg, the 2005 world silver medalist Iranian Ali Ashkani snatched a win over Peth Svehla from the Czech Republic, but he conceded a loss to the U.S. representative Joe Warren.

Ashkani was placed in the losers' group and had the chance to bag the bronze medal as Warren advanced to the final, but he was knocked out of the tournament when he was beaten by Russia's Vyacheslav Djaste.

Warren extended his winning streak, celebrating the title by beating the Georgian finalist David Bedinadze. MNA
