Azeri education minister calls US 'most important partner'

"Azerbaijan has been distinguished by its pro-Western policy since nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev's presidency and the United States has become one of its most important partners," he told an event held in the US-Azeri Education Center in Baku on Friday.

The minister said bilateral relations have been developing in different fields. The USA has also assisted in conducting reforms in Azerbaijan.

Mardanov said the number of Azeris studying in the United States exceeds the total number of those studying in other countries.

"This may be seen as an indication of how much importance Azerbaijan attaches to the United States." AssA-Irada
