Azerbaijan has medications for treatment of 500 bird-flu inflected patients.

The Republic Anti-Plague Station deputy director Faig Mammadzadeh said, APA reports. He said the medications have been distributed to all central hospitals for the treatment of first patients.

"We informed all hospitals that if they have patients suspected in contracting bird flu, they should send them to Baku. Their arrival may take several hours. That is why the patients can take 'Tamiflu.' This medicine is not dangerous for the constitution," he said.

The medicine is expensive and should be taken in no late than two days after contracting. Otherwise, it will be too late to save the patient. He said the patients should be taken to medical attendant’s station in remote villages. Eleven medical attendant's stations doctors' have been already trained.

Mammadzadeh also stated that dogs, cats and other wild animals might be infected with bird flu, but it causes no danger to people.
