07 June 2006 [15:52] - TODAY.AZ
Georgian Public TV channel 1 broadcasts news program simultaneously interpreted into Azerbaijani.

The news is simultaneously interpreted by resident of Kotogir village in Bolnisi region, Gadir Ahmadov. The interpretation into Azerbaijan is initiated by Internews NGO in the frames of the OSCE-funded project.

"Retranslation of developments into native languages of national minorities."

Managing director of Internews Georgi Ujumbegashvili told APA's Georgia bureau that this project serves many Azerbaijanis who do not know Georgian.

"This step enables those who cannot get informed about latest developments in political, economical, cultural, educational and social life of the country. The project will be funded by OSCE till the end of the year," the managing director said.

Ujumbegashvili also said that the similar project has been implemented in Samkhte-Javakheti region for the fourth year. The project is funded every year till the end of the year and renewed in the beginning of the year.

"I am confident the simultaneous interpretation in Bolnisi region will meet the standards and will live long," he said.
