Azerbaijan prohibited internal usage and import of ozone-destructive substances

APA was informed by the press-service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Azerbaijan was taking party in the Project for building up a potential in the field of improvement of the quality of the cadastre of gases creating hothouse effect.

At the same time, the Project for forest-planting in Kura-Araz lowland assisted by the French government is implemented to reduce gases creating hothouse effect.

Azerbaijan also stopped usage of ozone-destructive substances in the Chinar Refrigerator Plant, Sumgait Compressor Plant, and Fire Protection Head Office of the Republic, which are the main consumers of analogous substances. Import of such substances to Azerbaijan was also banned.

It should be noted that in 1995, Azerbaijan ratified UN Framework Convention on Climate Changes and the State Commission for Climate Changes has been operating in our country since 1997 in accordance with the decree of the President.
