20 February 2006 [18:22] - TODAY.AZ
"16 from 24 judges, violated the laws in 2005, were punished in appropriate order," Ramiz Rzayev, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Supreme Court, said to journalists.

He noted that the Legal council addressed to Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, to cease the activities of Vilayat Nadirov, the Judge of the Nizamy district court, for the serious faults made by him. The head of the country undersigned a decree on cessation of the activities of the judge ahead of time.

"Lilia Mavrina, the Judge of the Narimanov district court, received a reprimand for non-consideration of complaints by citizens and other violations. At present Mavrinina dispatched to smaller district to continue activities," Rzayev stressed.

He underlined that though the principle of judges was to eliminate any unlawful action, the real state in the Azerbaijani legal system was different. Judges themselves are punished for unlawful actions, Trend reports.
