Baku Mayor's Office gave KLO advice, not permission

18 February 2006 [09:24] - TODAY.AZ
The Mayor's Office of Baku has not allowed the Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) to hold a commemoration ceremony in front of "Cry of Khojali" monument on the anniversary of the Khojali Genocide on February 26.

As APA informs according to KLO, the Mayor's Office has not explained the reason of its refusal: "The Office recommended to publicly commemorating the 14th anniversary of the Khojali Genocide by visiting the tragedy victims' monuments and the Martyrs Alley on February 26, 2006 instead".

KLO Chairman Akif Naghi said the organization insisted on staging a demonstration to commemorate the Khojali Genocide: "We regret that the Mayor's Office of Baku has made such decision. Therefore, the authorities will be responsible for any confrontation that might happen during demonstration".
