Several offices of Tekhnikabank and Debutbank searched, some were detained

According to the information, during the searching in main office of Tekhnikabank, its "Kapital", "Hyatt", "Inshaatchilar" branches and Debutbank branch in Sumgayit under February 13, 2006 decision of Khatayi district court, falsification of account factures on Value Added Tax (VAT) was found out, APA was informed by the sources in the law enforcement bodies.

In addition, the flats of some owners of firms who are suspected of involvement in VAT falsification were searched within extra searching measures.

As a result of searching, seals belonging to two firms having accounts in Tekhnikabank were found in the main office of the bank. Signed, sealed but unfilled cheques for cash belonging to one of the firms, all the registration and account documents of the other firm were taken as material evidence from the investigators.

One more serious violation was found in Tekhnikhabnak branch "Inshaatchilar". Signed, sealed but unfilled cheque books for cash belonging to 29 firms, as well as, signed, sealed but unfilled forms of about 50 firms which were going to be forged were found.

Interesting facts have appeared about the head of these firms which counterfeited documents were taken from the aforesaid branch in the investigations. It was made known that some of them died 15 years ago or some were in prison or abroad for a long time.

Similar irregularities have also been found in branch of Debutbank in Sumgait. Stamps, main reports and other documents of 2 firms were found in this branch.

During a search computer processor belonging to Hayat branch of Tekhnikabank was taken as material evidence. A top-ranking official of Tekhnikabank was detained as a suspect. Investigation is underway on the said facts. The detained people’s names are not publicized.

Debutbank told APA that Ministry of Taxes conducted inspections in the bank, the details of inspection were not given. Tekhnikabank told APA that bank will issue a statement on the inspections in a few days. But the bank does not have information which officials have been detained as suspects.
