Bird Flu was not revealed in the analyses conducted in Nakhchivan

"Laboratory of Veterinary Service was organized within world standards," said Chief of the Laboratory of Veterinary Service in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) Sahib Hasanov.

Saying the laboratory was repaired in 2005, Sahib Hasanov told the bureau of APA in Nakhchivan that, necessary equipments were brought from Russia and Iran in order to ensure the normal function of the laboratory: "The laboratory has bacteriological department to analyze infective diseases, serological department to analyze blood, toxicological department for poison and biochemical analyses, virusology department to analyze diseases infected through viruses."

Saying all regions of NAR have veterinary labs, Sahib Hasanov noted that they have taken blood samples from died birds and analyzed it in connection with Bird Flu. He says that Bird Flu was not revealed in the analyses conducted up to now: "Furthermore, samples were taken from died animals, reasons for the death were examined and information was given to owners after analyzing. Infective diseases were not observed in Nakhchivan within last 10 years as a result of analyses. Brucellosis was found in one animal in 2005."

Saying control of laboratory over markets has been intensified in Nakhchivan, Sahib Hasanov noted that samples for analyses are taken from the animals brought to the markets every day and selling the animals is allowed after positive results of analyses. He also underscored that the laboratory often conducts raids together with NAR Hygiene and Epidemiology Center as well as NAR Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry.
