UNICEF to allocate about $10 million for realization of 5-year program in Azerbaijan

UNICEF allocated $9,725 thousand for realization of the five-year (2005- 2009) program in Azerbaijan, the UNICEF office representative in Azerbaijan, Ayna Mollazade told Trend.
According to her, out of them, $5,25 thousand will be allotted from the  organization's budget, while the rest $4,700 thousand will be granted by  donor countries.

The 5-year cooperation program of the UNICEF with Azerbaijan will cover 6 priority spheres. The UNICEF partners in the program realization  will be the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, Milli Mijlis, the Education  Ministry, the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism, the Health Ministry, the  Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the population of Azerbaijan, as  well as the World Bank, UNESCO, the Asian Development Bank and other.

The program includes application of active teaching methods in primary schools, adoption of the national plan for development in early childhood, as well as the tools and their application in 8 pilot districts of the country, providing mothers and children with improved medical services, application of the correct nourishment and child raising experiences for children in pilot areas. The program also envisions strengthening of the potential for successful realization of the vaccination program.   

Within the realization program the sides will also work at preparation of the national policy in taking the children out of the state guardianship and delivering them to families. Another important aspect of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UNICEF will be elaboration of mechanisms for the youth's active participation in the decision-making processes, related to their life.
