While this summer has been milder than most, things are about to change.

The National Department of Hydrometeorology of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has warned that air temperatures will be higher in the next five days.

The hot weather will be settled across Azerbaijan since August 10. Until then, in Baku and Absheron peninsula the air temperature will reach 35-39 degrees C, while on some days it will reach up to 41 degrees C.

The maximum air temperature in the regions of Azerbaijan will be 35-40 degrees C, in Nakhchivan and areas of central Aran 43 degrees C, and in mountain regions 29-34 degrees C.

The heat waves will cause discomfort in the population, according to the medical-meteorological forecast.

The sea water temperature on the beaches of Absheron including Sumgayit, Novkhani, Pirshagi, Nardaran, Bilgah will be 25-26 C, in Zagulb, Buzovna, Mardyakan, Shuvelan - 26-27 C, Turkan, Hovsan, Sahil and Shikh - 27-28 C degrees Celsius.

July and August are considered the hottest months in Azerbaijan with anomalous heat. The hottest summer in the country was recorded in 2000, when the temperature in Nakhchivan’s Djulfa region reached 46 degrees C, observed with a drought and decrease of water content in the rivers.
