Remaining committed to the principle of Islamic solidarity, Azerbaijan, where 2017 was declared the Year of Islamic Solidarity, has provided humanitarian aid to Yemen, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported on April 25.

A large-scale humanitarian crisis is currently being observed in Yemen.

In this regard, Geneva is hosting a donor conference called High-Level Pledging Event for the Humanitarian Crisis on April 25.

At the conference, Azerbaijan is represented by Ashraf Shikhaliyev, the director of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) of the country’s Foreign Ministry.

AIDA, established in September 2011, is a responsible organ for provision of international humanitarian and development assistance by Azerbaijan and coordinates activities of relevant state agencies in this field.

Its annual budget is formed by relevant allocations from the state budget. Its activities are structured in line and concurrent with the foreign policy of Azerbaijan.
