Azerbaijan is keen on providing legal reforms for air pollution reduction, such as the law on enterprises. This law requires full examination of enterprises in order to identify exposure levels and to evaluate environmental damage.

The government has implemented measures to decrease this figure with adoption of Euro-4 ecological standard, the use of which began in the country from April 1, 2014.

In 2015, IDEA, together with Tamiz Shahar JSC and volunteers, held the cleanup with a view to end the pollution and contamination of coastal areas and to raise public awareness about the need to keep Azerbaijan’s coasts clean.

The need for such measures arises as trash left behind by visitors to the Caspian coast is causing a sharp deterioration of the marine environment, especially in its wildlife.

Among the measures on air pollution reduction in the country, Azerbaijan has restricted the import of cars manufactured before 2003.
