Residents of Masalli, a city in the southern part of Azerbaijan, have found unique stones of different shape in the cemetery and in their yards.
The stones found in the Khanalyon village of Masalli resemble human face.
Villager Magsud Shiraliyev said that he found the stones while digging a pool in his yard. “I wanted to dig a pool in my yard. After digging two-meter deep, I saw different interesting stones. Nature cannot not create such stones,” he said.
The residents further added that the village, which name means “the place where a khan lived”, is located very high from the sea level, that’s why people settled here relatively earlier.
So far, no one has calculated the age of these stones. The Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography has announced about its intention to explore the southern regions of the country.
