Azerbaijani diplomat awarded Estonian order

Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves awarded Azerbaijani Ambassador Tofig Zulfugarov with the First Class Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana for his merits to the Estonian Republic, read a message posted Oct. 21 on the Estonian president’s website.

Tofig Zulfugarov has been the head of the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan to Estonia since 2007.

The Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana is a state award of the Estonian Republic.

The order was established on May 16, 1995 in honor of the independence of the state of Estonia, and is awarded to the country’s president and foreigners who have special merits.

The order has six classes.
