Parliamentarians stressed the importance of timely detection and removal of oral cavity infections for secondary school students in Azerbaijan.

This issue will be discussed in upcoming meetings of Parliament and some additions are expected to be done to law on the "Protection of public health."

“An infection in the oral cavity may later lead to more serious consequences. It is necessary to fix the problem in time, so it does not become the cause of other diseases,” the statement issued by MPs following the August 27 meeting reads.

The health sector in Azerbaijan is well developed to carry out complex surgeries, including organ transplants. “However, there are some issues which do not receive attention. Parents should be more careful of such kinds of issues,” the MPs noted.

Despite the fact that teeth grow twice during a person’s lifetime, taking care of a child’s teeth is an important prevention measure, the lack of which could lead to the abnormal development of the jaw and infectious diseases like colitis, gastritis, many types of allergies, and diseases of the liver and kidneys.

Doctors say that the habit of brushing teeth should be formed from childhood – from the very moment the first baby teeth start to push through the gums. The health of baby teeth is a foundation for later healthy permanent teeth.

Experts claim that teeth should be brushed twice a day, with a duration of 2-2.5 minutes.

For interdental spaces, doctors recommend to use soft dental floss or special brushes that do not injure the gums and help penetrate the most otherwise inaccessible places.
