The information resources in Azerbaijan have been warned that Armenian hackers might attempt to launch a massive attack in these days.

According to the Computer Emergency Response Team under the Special Communications and Information Security Agency of the Special State Security Service of Azerbaijan, Armenian hacking groups plan a large-scale attack against the information resources of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

The attack has a special purpose and is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the so-called "Armenian genocide", the CERT reported.

"The massive attack by Armenian hackers on Azerbaijani and Turkish online resources will happen on April 23 and 24, the results of CERT monitoring revealed. Furthermore, the attack on the state and private sources will have a special purpose," the CERT said.

The team warned the information systems to intensify all security measures against the expected hacking attack.

On April 24, Armenians across the world will celebrate the centennial of the fictional "Armenian genocide". Simultaneously with Yerevan's celebrative preparations for the "genocide", Armenian hackers have annually threatened Turkey with mass attacks, urging the state to recognize the fabricated "genocide" of Armenians.

An Armenian hacker group named Monte Melkonian's Cyber Group broke into 360 Turkish websites last year ahead of the "genocide" celebrations.

The same group hacked the website of Azerbaijan’s International Development Agency under the Foreign Ministry earlier in February, placing a piece of information saying that the attack was committed by Monte Melkonian's Cyber Group.

Baku believes that Armenia is trying to console itself through such pathetic moves amid a political, economic and demographic crisis and the loss of soldiers it suffers during provocation attempts on the Armenia-Azerbaijan contact line.

Armenian hackers regularly turn to cyber attacks on the websites of Azerbaijan's state bodies after Armenia-triggered skirmishes along the line of contact line between the armies occur.
