Number of population on rise

The number of Azerbaijanis leaving in the country has reached 9,611,700 people, the State Statistics Committee reported on April 13.

Azerbaijan’s population has increased by 18,700 people, or about 0.2 percent since the beginning of the year.

The density of population in Azerbaijan is 111 people per square kilometer. The ratio is 1,000 men to 1,009 women. The share of urban population stands at 53.1 percent, whilst the rural population stands at 46.9 percent.

During the two month of the current year 473 children were born in the country, 53.6 percent of them were boys and 46.4 percent, girls. A total of 514 among them are twins and 15 are triplets.

As much as 9,400 deaths were reported since January 1. The death rate dropped from 7.0 to 6.1.

Some 227 people have arrived in the country for permanent residence, while 119 people have left the country.

The figure for marriages stood at 11.1 during January-February, while the number of divorces involved 2,100 people.
