Gov't to provide young families with houses

The Azerbaijani young men have just received good news from the government, which announced it is planning to provide them with houses.

The government will build new residential buildings for young families as part of a draft of Azerbaijani Family Strategy designed by the State Committee for Problems of Families, Women and Children. It plans to rent out those buildings to the young families at low rental prices.

Providing the young men with houses was a policy carried out in Azerbaijan during the Soviet period. Most families used to receive houses as part of various state projects. The countries, which are referred to as post-Soviet states, failed to continue the same policy after they gained independence from Soviet Union.

The main purpose of the draft strategy is to provide the young families with houses. For that reason, facilitation of the mortgage loan requirements for those families was among the main priorities of the government.

The protection of the new married couples' reproductive health and family planning are also included in the strategy.

The strategy is discussed at the level of working groups. It will be submitted to the relevant bodies for a feedback after it is completely ready.

Azerbaijan's current economic progress and increasing revenues have paved the way to resume the activities to ease the life for youth. The country has developed a strategy for families pursuant to the "Azerbaijan 2020: Vision into the future" concept. The strategy covers various social projects and programs for young families by pressing ahead with the international experience.

"The realization of the mentioned programs will give a comprehensive support to the young families in Azerbaijan. It will contribute to their welfare and living conditions," the Committee said.

Azerbaijani Constitution defines the main directions of the youth strategy within the Law "On Youth Policy." Moral and spiritual preparations for youth and their participation in country's cultural life is among the key priorities in Azerbaijan. The government provides sustainable support for talented young people to inspire them to be involved in social activities. Relevant bodies take all necessary measures to protect the young people's health. Employment of youth is under sustainable supervision of the government. Regular state aids help the young families in Azerbaijan to have a balanced living conditions.

Official data shows that nearly 88,000 couples begin their joint life annually. Most of them can not afford to purchase or rent a house. The new project is aimed to tackle the main challenge of the young families.
