Azerbaijani and Turkish Air Forces conducted combat firings as part of the joint military drills on October 1.
The Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov observed the exercises, as he visited the firing field where the drills were carried out.
Mig-29 combat jets realized various maneuvers and practical combat training flights by imitating dogfights. The combat aircrafts destroyed the ground targets with the support of F-16 fighter jets.

Azerbaijani and Turkish Air Forces hold regular drills as part of the military cooperation between the two countries. Previously, the Turkish Air Forces joined large-scale military exercises in Azerbaijan in September. Over 30 combat jets of Turkish Air Forces attended the colossal drills to carry out joint missions with Azerbaijani counterparts.

Hasanov said the drills were held under the order of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"Various types of armed forces from Azerbaijan and Turkey took part in the drills. Joint drills of the two countries' air forces, the first of its kind, was held in Azerbaijan. It is very important that Azerbaijani and Turkish pilots supported each other by realizing joint combat missions. I appreciate it. We will arrange exercises on a larger scale," Hasanov noted.

Azerbaijan and Turkey agreed to hold the next stage of the exercises in Turkey. The two sides plan to organize joint drills in Turkey in March, 2015.
