Explosion occurs in Azerbaijan’s Khirdalan, 4 people still missing - UPDATE - PHOTOS

Nine people have been rescued from the rubble of the building struck by an explosion in Azerbaijan's city of Khirdalan Sept.8, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

Currently, the search and rescue operations are underway for the people who may be trapped under the rubble, according to the ministry.

Four people have been rescued from the rubble of the building struck by an explosion in Azerbaijan's Khirdalan city on Sept.8 in the morning, the employees of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations told Trend.

Currently, the search for four more people is underway.

An explosion occurred in a five-storey building in the city of Khirdalan of Azerbaijan's Absheron region, the website of the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations said citing the information received by the 112 hotline.

The building reportedly was under construction during the explosion.

Following the blast, a rescue team has arrived at the scene. The cause of the explosion is unknown yet.

Emergency medical care told Trend two people were treated by the doctors at the scene, and they were delivered to a hospital afterwards.

Furthermore, the ambulance station employees of the Khirdalan city treated five more people at the scene.
