Baku, the Wonderful city

Hi pretty people, so many things happened in the last days, Brazil lost against Germany, Argentina is at the final, this World Cup looks like a horror film without end . So let´s talk about nice things like Baku - Azerbaijan . Only to think about it, it makes me happy. It's just so hard to find words to describe something when we like it a lot, right?! It's too much responsibility for me and even if I tried, I could never explain how wonderful this city is. Not even the most beautiful pictures can show the beauty of this city that won my heart. So I will start telling you how and why I had the opportunity to meet this city.

Some of you might know, that I work in a company that organizes film festivals. I'm kind of "responsible" for the communication of a committee that has about 17 tourism film festivals around the world, it is called CIFFT. One of those festivals is the Baku International Tourism Film Festival.

Now imagine how happy I was when they invited me to take part in their festival. I was so excited with the idea, that I did a one-week research about what to do, where to go, history, curiosities and in the end I knew more about Baku than the people that live there. hahhahahha - I'm crazy I know, everybody knows that, since when I have something in my mind I turn into a freak and I want to find and know everything about it. But for those who do not know: Baku is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan on the Caspian Sea, it consists of two parts: The Downtown Area and the Old Inner City. Baku´s name is believed to be derived from a Persian word which means "city of winds". And believe me, pretty people, the wind is so strong that the trees are staked in cement; so strong that the hotel roof with it´s wonderful panoramic view is closed, so that people do not fall out of the balcony; so strong, that I could not have one picture of me without my hair blown in my face. But this is another thing which made the stay there even more special - I mean - not the photos with the hair in my face of course, but the wind. Every day we had an average temperature of about 32°C/90°F and imagine that without wind, that´s not so comfortable, right?!

At my first day I went for a walk at the Caspian seaside, I was like a crazy hip girl doing thousands of pictures of everything that I saw in my front, amazed by the mix of modern architecture and luxurious buildings. Some may say that Baku wants to be the second Dubai, but I think that Baku is Baku. Yes, It is beautiful, it is imposing, but at the same time it is simple and affordable. And this is another important thing that I want to point out here: Visit Baku, Visit Azerbaijan! Open yourself for new routes, visit different places, go out of the conventional travel plans that everybody do. Baku is ready to receive you. You just need to find your way to there.
