Some 5,731 persons who have become disabled for protection of territorial integrity, independence and constitutional system of Azerbaijan and martyrs' families will be gradually provided with apartments or private houses.
"These persons have already been registered in the local executive powers as persons needing residential houses," the Labor and Social Protection of Population Ministry reported.
President Ilham Aliyev issued an order on June 20 on adopting additional measures to improve social conditions of persons who fought for the country's independence.
The Ministry was tasked to develop an action plan to provide the persons who have become disabled for protection of territorial integrity, independence and constitutional system of Azerbaijan and martyrs' families with apartments and private houses. Persons whose names have been registered till January 1, 2014 will be housed as instructed by Azerbaijan's president.
Basing on an instruction by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, the local executive powers are expected to provide the plans and lands as said in the first part of the order. Meanwhile, it has to keep the president informed about the process.
The Cabinet of Ministers is to provide the initial funds required for implementation of measures from the state budget for 2014 and to account the necessary funds in the state capital investments in Azerbaijan's state budget for each year in 2015-2018.
Some 4,278 disabled persons and martyrs' families have been provided with houses by 2014.
"The presidential order is another example of the care and attention to people with disabilities and martyrs' families," the ministry reported. "The ministry will take the appropriate measures to comply with this order at a high level."
