Azerbaijan's population has hit 9,511,100 people, increasing 34,000 people or 0.4 percent since early 2014, according to the State Statistics Committee.
“Some 53,600 children were born in Azerbaijan in January-February 2014, of whom 53.6 percent are boys, 46.4 percent are girls. The natality per 1,000 people amounted to 17.4 people in Azerbaijan,” the committee said.
The population density is 110 people per square kilometer, official figures suggest.
The committee said a woman to man ratio was 1,011:1,000 in the country.
According to the committee, some 53.2 percent of the population lives in towns, while 46.8 percent in the regions.
“Some 19,900 people have died in Azerbaijan since early 2014. The mortality remained unchanged and hit 6.5 per thousand people compared to the corresponding period of 2013. Some 24,800 marriages and 3,900 divorces were registered during this period,” the committee said.
