Summer is coming, ready for its hotness?

The first month of summer promises to be hot in Azerbaijan, the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry said.

Average temperature will be slightly above normal in June, the Ministry said on May 27, adding that air temperature is slightly higher in recent decades compared to the previous ones.

Head of the agency Umayra Tagiyeva said the fifth report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change of the United Nations, which has referred to meteorological observations, shows that in the past hundred of years, the last three decades are considered the warmest.

Thus, average temperature in Baku and the Absheron peninsula will be 23-26 degrees above zero, higher than the climatic norm. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be below the norm (9-12 mm), the report shows.

Azerbaijan's coldest districts will be Khankandi, Shusha, Khojali, Lachin, and Zangilan of the Upper Karabakh region as usual.

Their average temperature will be 15-20 degrees above zero, and temperature will reach 9-14 degrees above zero at night. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be close to the norm (86-130 mm).

Average temperature of Gazakh, Ganja, Goranboy, Terter, Agdam, Fizuli, and Jabrail will be 21-25 degrees above zero, expected to reach 18-23 degrees above zero at night. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be lower than the norm (46-63 mm).

Average temperature in Azerbaijan's Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, Ismayilli, Agsu, Shamakha, Khizi, Guba, Gusar, and Khachmaz will be 19-23 degrees above zero, higher than the climatic norm; temperature is expected to drop to 15-20 degrees above zero at night. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be closer to the norm (18-179 mm).

Mingachevir, Yevlakh, Goychay, Agdash, Kurdamir, Imishli, Agjabadi, Beylagan, Sabirabad, Bilasuvar, Saatli, Shirvan, Hajigabul, Salyan, and Neftchala will be the warmest regions of Azerbaijan in June; average temperature will be 24-26 degrees above zero, reaching 18-23 degrees above zero at night. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be lower than the norm (12-49 mm).

The country's Masalli, Yardimli, Lerik, and Astara won't be cold; average temperature will be 20-25 degrees above zero and monthly precipitation in the region will amount to 29-47 mm.

Average temperature in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will be 22-26 degrees above zero, reaching 16-21 degrees above zero at night. Monthly precipitation in the region is expected to be lower than the norm (9-12 mm).

To protect your head and eyes from overheat, wear sunglasses and hats. In addition to that, those who have a sensitive skin had better use special creams that will cover their skin with a protective layer.
