Today, science in Azerbaijan is going through a new stage of development, Azerbaijan Youth and Sport Minister said.

Azad Rahimov made the remarks at the International Young Scientists Forum in Baku on May 27.

At present, youth has access to innovations and can be acquainted with the latest researches, he said.

Youth can contact the winners of prestigious scientific awards, world-renowned scientists, and authors of scientific papers, Rahimov said, adding that it is possible to find anyone and any information.

Support for the development of science is growing every day in the world, and organizations and associations of young scientists are created, he said.

It can be seen most clearly in Azerbaijan, Rahimov stressed, pointing to a strategy on science development in 2009-2015.

Rahimov said his ministry is playing an active role in popularizing science among the Azerbaijani youth, adding that the main task is to increase interest in science among young people.

"I believe that the forum will be able to generate interest in science among representatives of the future generations and lead them. The main objective of the forum is to foster business cooperation between various countries and areas that are bringing young scientists of the world together to support the existing network of young scientists," he underlined.

"We expect the forum to accelerate the integration of Azerbaijani researchers and scientists into the world of science, and contribute to the work of existing global scientific networks," Rahimov said.

The forum was organized by the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the Azerbaijan National Commission for UNESCO, the Council of Europe's young researchers "Eurodoc", and Azerbaijan's society of young scientists, post-graduate students, and masters.

At the forum, Fatma Abdullazade, head of Humanitarian Policy Department of the President's Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan read President Ilham Aliyev's congratulatory letter to the forum participants.

In his letter, the President warmly welcomed young scientists and wished success for the forum.

The message underlined the increasing role of science in a rapidly globalizing world.

Azerbaijan is now one of the rapidly developing countries of the world, the President said.

"In the first place, our successes are the result of proper and efficient use of human capital. Many programs aimed at young people, including a program to receive education abroad, have provided the necessary conditions for the involvement of youth in science," the letter said.

The president expressed hope that the mutual relations established during the forum contribute to the development of joint projects and researches and the successful implementation of research activities aimed at the future.

Addressing the forum, ANAS President Akif Alizade said the main problems of young scientists in Azerbaijan today are related to the level of knowledge of foreign languages ??and integration into the international scientific environment.

Alizade considers issues related to the formation processes of young scientists important.

"Today, the main problem of young Azerbaijani scientists is related to the integration into the world of science, and the main issue here is knowledge of foreign languages. It is impossible to be satisfied with studying foreign languages at ??courses. Real-life communication and contact with foreign scientists is needed," he said.

He added that young scientists of the world should conduct cooperative research after establishing contacts with each other.
