Azerbaijan elected vice-president of UNESCO committee

Azerbaijan has been elected vice president of the UNESCO committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict at the committee`s 8th session held in Paris.

According to Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry, new members of the Committee Bureau have been elected at the beginning of the meeting. Belgium was elected as President of the Committee, while Azerbaijan, Egypt, Cambodia and Mali as vice-presidents, and Salvador as rapporteur.

Azerbaijan has been elected the bureau's member for the second time, that shows the country's authority and activeness. The re-election of Azerbaijan to the bureau will allow defining the agenda of the next meeting, taking into account Azerbaijan's national interests in the documents, and discussing the issue of protection of cultural property in the territories occupied by Armenia.
