Days-off of upcoming holidays in Azerbaijan heralded

Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers has announced days-off for the upcoming holidays.

The Cabinet of Ministers has announced December 31, 2013 and January 1-6, 2014 inclusively days-off in connection with the celebration of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year.

This year, December 28, 29, and 30 will be working days.

"We have decided to swap December 28 and 29 days-off with January 3 and 6," the cabinet reported. "Thus, December 30 will be the last working day of the outgoing year, and January 7 - the first working day of 2014."

Based on Article 105 of the Labor Code, if public holidays fall on weekends, the day-off is moved to the next working day immediately after the holiday.

Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers decided on the days off for the holidays Novruz, the coming of spring, Ramadan, a month of fasting, and Kurban, a day of sacrifice of a livestock animal during Eid-ul-Adha in 2014.

In 2014, the days-off for the Novruz would be March 20-24 inclusively, while for Ramadan - July 28-29, and for Kurban - October 4-5.
