
Azerbaijan’s annual population growth rate will be 1.1% till 2015.
It is reflected in the report of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) released yesterday.
The document says that the highest annual population growth rate is in Oman and Qatar. The population of these countries will relevantly increased by 7.9% and 5.9% within the next two years. The results of "demographic winter" are still felt in the Eastern European countries, unlike the Persian Gulf countries. The highest population decline will be observed in Moldova and Bulgaria (0.8%), Ukraine (0.6%), Serbia, Belarus and Lithuania (0.5%).
The population growth rate is 0.2% in Armenia, 0.4% in Georgia, 1.1% in Azerbaijan. Maternal mortality ratio per 100,000 live births is 43, under-five mortality rate is 47 in Azerbaijan.
