The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA, President Tae Won Park) successfully established the Automation of Intellectual Property Rights Management System and online Patent Information System at the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents (SCSMP) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and inaugurated them on March 1.

Since 2011, the Korea International Cooperation Agency has automotized documents admission, examination, registration and other administrative work process at the SCSMP during last two years. Also, the online Patent Information System was established, which every citizen can utilize for creating electronic applications, searching intellectual property rights, and publicizing online bulletin. Moreover, the KOICA set up the national property rights database by electronizing the stored paper documents at the SCSMP.

As a result of this project, the processing time of the SCSMP is shortened, while citizens can search patent information, send online documents and apply for the patent economically and efficiently using the internet at home or at work without visiting the SCSMP.
The State Committee declared the opening of the online patent information system for the Azerbaijani citizens and announced its plan to regularly hold a briefing about online electronic application system in order to promote its utilization.

Mr. Miryaqub Seyidov, director of AzPatent of the SCSMP said: “The inauguration of the Intellectual Property Rights Management System for the citizens on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the SCSMP is a remarkable event. I am sure that the opening of new system can serve as a momentum for the invigorating intellectual property rights application”
In her interview, the Resident Representative of KOICA Office of Azerbaijan, Ms. Eun Suk Kim, said “she celebrates the establishment and inauguration of the new system, which will strengthen the relations between Korea and Azerbaijan on numerous fields including e-Government.”
