According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, due to the torrential rains on October 27, sharp increase of water richness has been observed in the rivers of Lankaran-Astara region.
In this regard, water level increased 40 cm in Lankaranchay-Lankaran, 37 cm in Lankaranchay-Sifidor, while 54 cm in Vasharuchay-Dashtatuk. Currently water richness holds 80-140% of decade norm in Quba-Khachmaz region of Major Caucasus, 80-85% in Minor Caucasus rivers, 20-80% in Lenkaran Astara region rivers, while 55% in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR. On October 29, 2 cm increase of water level was issued in Giragkesemen settlement of Kura river. Currently water consumption holds 145 m3/sec in the settlement, i.e 88% of decade norm (in 2011, 187m3/sec, i.e 113% of decade norm).
On October 29, no change of water level has been observed in Ayrichay settlement of Qanikh river. At present water consumption holds 56 m3/sec, i.e 61% of decade norm. (in 2011, 77 m3/sec, i.e 84% of decade norm).
Current condition in the downstream of Kura river
On October 29, raise of water level has been observed in the downstream of Kura river. In this regard, 10cm increase of water level has been issued in Surra settlement of Kura river, as well as 1 cm in Shirvan and 8 cm in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river, while 7 cm decrease of water level was issued in Banka and no change of water level was reported in Salyan.
Currently, water level holds 320cm (on October 29, 2011, 524cm) in Surra settlement, 163cm (on October 29, 2011, 387cm ) in Shirvan, 158cm (on October 29, 2011, 396cm) in Salyan, 192cm (on October 29, 2011, 281cm) in Banka, while 98 cm (on October 29, 2011, 190cm) in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river. /eco.gov.az/
