'Buildings constructed till1967 do not respond requires of Seismic stability'

“ Both Anti-seismic measures and seismic stability have not been taken into consideration during the construction of the buildings in Azerbaijan till 1967”, Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov told journalists.

Sharivov said:” Even the Construction project of 5-storied buildings in Yasamal does not include any anti-seismic measures. But the Ministry of Emergency Situations has established a special commission which examines the projects against seismic stability. Registration of new buildings is a serious mater. For 20 years, either inactive governmental agencies or cooperatives have built houses without following rules. 9-storeyed buildings are constructed while the permission allows construction of 7-storeyed buildings and 15-storeyed buildings are constructed instead of 9-storeyed buildings. There are more than 200 such buildings in Baku. Now we are working over the solution of this problem.”
