Runoff waters destroy highway in Azerbaijan

The runoff waters caused by heavy rains on July 9 destroyed 40 and 43 km of the Garamaryam-Ismayilli-Shaki highway, first deputy head of Ismayilli region executive power, Rafael Ahmadov reported.

According to him, the road was in disrepair condition, the traffic was stopped in the evening yesterday: “Traffic on one lane of the road has been restored today, but it is very dangerous. The relevant organizations were informed about it. Currently the measures are being taken to reconstruct the road.”

Akhmadov also mentioned that the heavy rains didn’t seriously damage the houses located in the sliding areas: “The flow occurred in mountainous rivers and affected mainly the road.
