Execution of presidential pardon order ended - UPDATE

The execution of the pardon order signed on Thursday by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev ended today. Representatives of the media, NGOs and the ombudsman watched the execution of the pardon order, the Penitentiary Service said on Friday.

It should be noted that in connection with the Novruz holiday President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed on Thursday an order pardoning 62 prisoners. According to the order, 55 were pardoned from imprisonment, one person - corrective labor, 6 people - penalty in the form of a fine.

Among those pardoned are foreign citizens.

There are foreigners among the pardoned prisoners.

Ruslan Bashirov (Bashirli), who was convicted under Article 278 of the Criminal Code (attempt of violent seizure or retention of power), and sentenced to seven years in prison, as well as Elnur Israfilov, who was sentenced to 2 years 6 months for taking part in an unsanctioned rally, held on April 2 last year, are among those pardoned by the President.
