The traffic police urged pedestrians to strictly follow the road safety rules as the adverse weather conditions continue in Baku, Baku State Central Traffic Police Department spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Vagif Asadov said.
Pedestrians are encouraged to be careful when passing the road, not to create difficulties for the traffic movement. “People had better use the pedestrian crossing and underpasses to ensure the safety. There are about 50 pedestrian crossings in Baku, but, unfortunately, the citizens do not always use them,” he said.
Based on the Administrative Offenses Code, person violating the traffic rules is fined in the amount of 10 manat. The traffic police fined Baku 2604 pedestrians in Baku in 2011, he noted.
