Azerbaijan eyes bill on protecting prisoners' rights

A bill ‘On ensuring the rights and freedoms of detainees’ was discussed at a meeting of the Azerbaijani Legal Policy and State Building Parliamentary Committee on Tuesday.

The bill was submitted to parliament in the second reading. The document defines the legal status of prisoners and the regime of places of detention.

The bill states that the garrison guardhouse of armed units and detention centers is considered to be detention facilities. The bill also defines the conditions and limits of physical force at places of detention.
