SOCAR sues owners of illegal buildings in Baku suburbs

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has filed a suit against 20,000 owners of illegal buildings in Company’s territories in the suburbs of Baku. Informed sources say that the Company sued in the courts of Baku and suburban settlements.

"According to our data, currently 20,000 claims of the SOCAR are under consideration with by courts. And 7,000 of them account for Sabunchu district of Baku," the source said.

SOCAR spokesman Nizameddin Guliyev confirmed the information about court proceedings, but did not specify their number. "Indeed, we applied to courts to resolve the issue of illegal buildings in SOCAR areas, and there are even specific rulings on demolition of some buildings. Legal proceedings are continuing," he said.
