Azerbaijan may extend education term

The 10-year National Education Strategy, which is expected to be adopted soon, proposes to extend the term of secondary education to 12 years, State Student Admission Commission (SSAC) Chairperson Meleyka Abbaszade said at the meeting on the outcomes of the student admission in 2011.

According to her, the issue is being discussed. Chief of Education Ministry’s general education and preschool education department Aydin Ahmadov said it is progressive that 12 years is designated for secondary education. “But 12-year education can not be compulsory. Compulsory education may be only 10 years,” he said.
