The Turkish Special Forces have entered the territory of Syria, the TRT Haber TV channel reported August 24.

Tanks of the Turkish Armed Forces are on the border with Syria, according to the channel.

General Zekai Aksakalli, who was in charge of the liquidation of the coup plotters during the military coup attempt in Turkey, has led the Turkish Special Forces in Syria.

Earlier it was reported that Turkey doesn’t exclude the beginning of ground military operations in Syria.

On Aug. 24 morning, the Turkish army with the support of the coalition aircraft launched an operation to liberate the city of Jarabulus from the IS militants in northern Syria, near Aleppo city.

Syria has been suffering from an armed conflict since March 2011, which, according to the UN, has so far claimed over 500,000 lives.

Militants from various armed groups are confronting the Syrian government troops. The “Islamic State” (IS, ISIL, ISIS or Daesh) is the most active terrorist group in Syria.
