Turkmenistan named vice-chair of UN General Assembly 71st session

Turkmenistan has been elected the vice-chair of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, the Turkmen government said in a message June 15.

"Election of Turkmenistan as the vice-chair of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly is a sign of the new important chapter in the history of relations between our country and the United Nations, meeting the interests of global peace and security, prosperity and sustainable development," said the message.

It was also noted that Ashgabat made initiatives from the UN tribune to promote the optimization and increase the capacity for effective partnership to ensure global energy security and the formation of branched transit and transportation infrastructure. This was reflected in the special UN resolutions.
