Iran to deliver national helicopter to armed forces

01 July 2015 [17:59] - TODAY.AZ

The Iranian national helicopter will be unveiled by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20) and delivered to the armed forces.

Announcing the news, Iranian Army Commander Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said the aircraft is a piston helicopter, IRNA news agency reported July 1.

The helicopter, named Homa, is currently being manufactured by the PANHA (also known as Helicopter Renovation and Logistics Company), and the manufacturing is supervised by the Iranian Air Force.

PANHA CEO Mohammad Ahmad Abadi said February that the aircraft had passed a flight test.

It is a two-engine, 14-seat helicopter and is compatible with the Iranian weather, he had stated.

Homa is a multifunctional helicopter and can be equipped with weapons as well.

Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army Kiomarth Heydari had said earlier that the helicopter had taken part in the Mohammad Rasulollah war games that were held in southeast Iran in January.
